Has anyone witnessed a race between a 2006 Mustang GT and a stock C-5 Corvette?

I've been told that the Mustang will beat the Corvette in a quarter-mile even though it has 45 less horsepower. The reasoning is because the Mustang supposedly has a better rear-end gear ratio. Anyone know about this?
