The Best villian is by far the Joker...please research him and think about it...perhaps over nice cup of tea.
Best Hero is Bruce Wayne (the mental and emotional concept behind the Batman)

My favorite Super Villain would be the Shredder. If you've ever read the comic you would see what a truly evil man he is and all the drama behind the Foot/Turtle revenge thing. The reincarnation story in the original comic is gory and glorious.
My favorite Super Hero would be Batman. He's hot, intelligent, and human. Sure there's lots of super heroes in nice tight outfits leaving little to the imagination but, they're all from different planets or suffered some horrible accident that usually is a little hard to swallow. Batman could be a real guy. Where does he get all those wonderful toys?

This is more of a matter of opinion I think.
I would say for Villain it would go to the Joker. He's easily the most recognizable and well known villain. Everybody knows who he is. While other heroes all have decent rogues gallery I would say Joker is probably the most recognizable
For hero I would say Superman. He was really the first in this genre and spawned everything there after. He has become a symbol for morality and goodness. Truth, Justice and the American way and all that.

Comic book hero has to be Batman. Why? because he is not a meta-human, alien etc. He is rich guy with a lot of attitude. Check out dark Knight returns by Frank Miller for further details.
Villain. Lex Luthor has to be in the top three if not number one. For shear manipulation and intelligence.

my other half introduced me to deadpool, he's so funny :) but I'm not sure if he's a hero/ anti-hero or villain depending on what comic you read?
maybe spider Jerusalem from transmetroplitan..... I'm not sure he's a comic book hero though... he should be a role model for all journalists out there.
hero's... well, slaine was always my favourite.
is X23 a hero?

My favorite hero has always been Wolverine, though I must admit he's a bit overused - can't beleive he joined The Avengers! I like him because of his mysterious past, violent rages, and for being a cool bad ***.
My favorite villan is more difficult - I'm very partial to Darkseid, from Jack Kerby's New Gods comics.

Too broad of a question.
But, I like Persuader. He's strong enough to bat MonEl around. He wields an axe, that can cut thru anything, with authority.
His original costume was best, the current "30th C Medieval Retro" is crap.
He takes what he wants and does as he pleases.

Batman definitely the best hero, It shows you how hard work and unlimited resources can make you as/or more powerful than superman. as for Villain, that would have to go to Vandal Savage, can anyone be as destructive and over time as the Lord of War. I know that there are other universes and more powerful people but the only advantage that vandal savage has his immortality and patience

Psylocke! The purple-haired mutant from X3 that works with Magneto. She's actually quite different in the comic books... a very accomplished martial artist.

I would go with Judge Dredd. He isn't really a superhero because he has no powers I know, but quite a few other answers were only heros so I think maybe the question criteria has broadened.
