♡Oh, I hate the crowds, especially in the morning and in THIS HEAT. ~kimochi warui!!!
I try to avoid them if I can or ride the 'ladies car' on the train when that's not full.... I guess I have sort of gotten used to it... A LITTLE.
When I first came to Japan, I had to get off at every other stop just for air! \(^∇^)/ ha ha
And I really do envy you getting a new bicycle.
★Lucky you!★ (Does Toto ride in your basket? CUTE!)
I can't ride a bicycle all the way to Ikebukuro, Shinjuku or other places though... So, I'll just have to be brave and stand the crowds! Not all places are crowded though, you know that. Just rush hours and holidays.
I can stand it though because I love living here.(^_-)-☆

I personally didn't think that Japan was that crowded. Ikebukuro at night, I saw not one person other than me out on the streets. It was kinda scary. But yeah, I only went to Harajuku and the imperial palace. Not too many crowds there, anyway. I suppose if I had went on a Tokyo train, or Shibuya, I would have encountered these crowds.

But I wouldn't let those videos scare you into thinking that all of Japan is like this, because that is not the case. A train leaving out of Gifu on a Saturday had about five people on it. Not crowded at all.

I hated the crowds when I was living there but now I kinda miss it.
I miss being able to move smoothly between people in the Shibuya crossing.

But the rush hour trains are not something I miss.
Companies and governments should get together and change the work schedule around so at least you have room to breathe in the trains.

During the rain season morning rush hour, I stepped (More like shoved) into a train from Shinjuku and rode it to Tamachi station on Yamanote. My umbrella was bent and broken (Because of so many people pressing against you on the train) by the time the train reached Harajuku!!! So I had to buy another umbrella at Tamachi Station. I felt so violated.

I HATE crowded trains generally - but the rush hour trains here in Japan are unbelievable! I avoid them whenever it's possible because I despise them so much!

Really, when I first experienced a rush hour evening train - on the way home from a fireworks display - I spent the following day interrogating my Japanese husband, and searching the net, for information about how many people have been crushed to death like that...!! I STILL can't believe no-one has been killed...!! I thought my daughter was going to die for sure...

I am people-phobic, I get really nervous around big groups of people. But for some reason when I was in Japan it didn't seem to bother me. Maybe it's because I'm 5 inches taller then the tallest person there, I can just see over everyone's head....

But seriously, it's such a compact city, there are so many people packed in there. I guess it's just something you have to expect when visiting or living there. Like rain in Seattle.

If one travels to Tokyo and face streams of crowd after crowd of people, you would feel more tired and not enjoy the trip as much.

I live in Japan, and sometimes the crowds can be overwhelming, but it's well worth dealing with- look at all the other great things Japan has to offer.

I hate crowds. That's why I live in the country in the middle of 260 acres of pure wilderness. Though the commute to the city sucks.
