It does seem to say that people do not like Bush's War and that they are prepared to vote against incumbents who support it.

You people are acting like this was the November election....Lamont is still just a candidate for Lieberman's seat. He hasn't won anything but the right to run as the Democrat challenger for the Senate. There's still that little problem of convincing Connecticut independents to vote for Ned, considering the fact that they outnumber registered Democrats and Republicans, that may be an up hill battle, but hey, enjoy the little party....I imagine it won't last long. Cheers!

Well you're not quite through with this just yet. Lieberman is still going to run as an Independant for Senate in the fall elections so there's still the possibility that unaffiliated voters will pick up where the registered Democratic voters left off and push him in and keep Lamont out.
But as for the Republican viewpoint, I have yet to even see who they're putting in the race for the Senate, so Lamont and Lieberman may very well have guarenteed spots waiting for them in the Senate.

The victory for Lamont was a victory for yesterday. In November, according to most polls, Lieberman still wins as an independent. People are not loyal to parties, but people and Lieberman got 48% of the Dem vote. No independents could vote for him and no Republicans could vote for him. Come November he will get a lot of these votes and most pollsters expect him to win.

well it says that one of the most honorable people in our government was driven out by the far left. I dont agree with most things he voted for (96% or more democratic party line votes), but the guy was one of the few who actually seemed to want to put the country before party.
We are in a sad state with all of the hate mongering from the left. Even democratic commentators and others have been surprised how disgusting it was thrown at Joe L.

It's proof that the far left of the Democratic party is now in control.
When a mildly left of center canidate who supported a certain war
gets treated like a pariah, that's bad news.
I don't think it means much of anything in the big picture - though it could be used by the right to point out how to the far left the Democratic party has swung as a whole.

Amazing how quickly you lefties can turn on your own when they deviate from the party line. Since this was a Senate race, I think the HOUSE won't be too concerned by it. It just proves to them that the radicals in the Democratic party are trying to purge the moderates. Meanwhile, the House might take note that the more moderate voice of Hank Johnson tore Cynthia McKinney and her racist/socialist/insane supporters a new orifice in Georgia.

So your definition of legitimate is voting results you agree with?? I think the message it has sent to the Democratic leadership is that they're going to lose big in 2008, as they're losing the moderate vote fast and furious.

It means that arrogant incumbents who think they can do whatever they want had better remember how they got into office in the first place. Americans might be stupid, but they are not THAT stupid. Vote them ALL out, I say.
