You as an individual must plan for the time you can no longer take care of yourself and not depend on others.
But if you have a loving family you shouldn't have to ask that question of yourself.I do not mind getting older in years as long as my mind and heart stay as young as I feel right now.I do not fear the twilight years,I have loved and been loved ,I have missed out on nothing.I will never look back and ask myself..."What if" I am happy and content and at peace with my self and my life.:)

I live in Florida. Where there is a LOT of elderly people - everywhere! MOST always looked to me to be in really bad shape. By age 35, I had enough of worrying, so I started weightlifting. I am now age 56, almost age 57. After 24 years of exercising; stretching, aerobics, light weight lifting, heavy weightlifting, I am nothing like other men my age. I am big, strong, healthy and happy. I plan to work until age 80, live until age 120. Aging can be two different paths; one with pain and fear, the other with strength and positive outlook on life. Exercise gives you that choice. Google Jack and Elane LaLanne. They both are in their 90's and are in fantastic shape. Aging does not have to mean growing old.

I may be aging, but I don't have to get old. To take care of myself now, I run 1 mile plus every other day, and walk 2 miles everyday.
I work out with muscle resistance machine to keep my muscles toned, including 20 push ups and 30 sit ups. To keep mentally fit, I play chess everyday on line, and a clubs on Wednesday(sometimes), Thursday and Saturday, I work on Math, Algebra problems, and watch only 2 or 3 hours of T.V. a day, but only my 50's Sci Fi movies. Of course my wife and I are also very active, if you know what I mean. I intend on being physically and mentally independent until I leave this life, whether by death or by the rapture.

I dont fear it as much as look forward to it. I hope that by the time I'm really old I will have accomplished many good things, have wonderful well educated children and grand children, have excelled at my chosen career path and have lots of money to travel around and buy hideously expensive gifts for my family members. If all that is in place and I take care of my body so old age isnt hard on me, I think it would be fine.

I find myself thinking about that more lately--I'm 32 and hardly old but I have kids and I've had to deal with a lot. And my family isn't exactly the kind you can count on--its scary to think that these might be the people deciding what will happen to you if you can't take care of yourself anymore.

No, I do not fear getting old as I have faith in my 2 kids that they will take care of me since I am taking care of them now.

No, I am married and have a wonderful husband that would take care of me and visa versa. I will be 50 in 2 years, but I feel great and don't look like it, at least that what everyone tells me.

I don't. I mean I don't want to be dependent on others, but i know that people are living longer, healthier lives these days. I plan to remain active as long as I can and hopefully that will help me to not get to that point where I can't do anything for myself.

No getting older is a blessing these days because you are lucky if you make it to age 20!!! Growing old also means that you gain wisdom !!! And you can help someone younger get through their mistakes in life, because you have experienced life and wisdom goes a long way!!! Grow old gracefully!!!! Older doesn't mean life is over!!!

Nothing to fear if you live each day like it's your last. Have no regrets in your life and getting old will not matter so much.
