i have many different reasons why it means the way it does but i want to hear what others think

No means as an adverb.

the whole word "no" is contraversial Cause it is used in a form of flirtation or a direct meaning it can work both ways it all depends how and when it is used.

The word "NO" means you are going to get an argument. Why is it when you say "YES" nobody ever argues with you to try to get you to change it to no?

I was and am a marketing man. For me all NOs are to be converted to YES and hence it means an opening for conviction!!!!

NO-not to, opposed to yes. used in expressing refusal. a denial what else would you like to know.
