By the way NASCAR is not a sport, and if you disagree than I must be a top athlete because I drive on the beltway 2 times a day.

Yes, but can you drive for 500 miles at 100-200 miles an hour?
If NASCAR's not a sport, neither is Olympic track and field or bicycle racing, because after all, lots of people run or ride bikes.
Look at the drivers themselves. They sweat like athletes. They're well-conditioned like athletes, more so than many football or baseball players.
Cars don't *just* drive around in circles. They pass each other--like the chariot race in Ben Hur, only brighter and faster. They fall back. They come back.
Drivers have rivalries. It's fun when they talk smack to each other, and fun when they bump or if they have a confrontation.
If it's not *your* sport, fine. But it's stupid and outdated to say it's not a sport at all.

I agree driving on the "Beltway" is a lot like NASCAR, Now try it at 200 miles an hour, braking and shifting in an automobile dressed in a fire suit, with a helmet with no air conditioning with a room temperature of 125 degrees for 500 miles. Oh try not to run into any one and remember if you bend your car it doesn't work as well and watch out for the other guy. Oh yeah lets See you and your friends put 15 gallons of fuel, change four tires, clean your windshield and adjust your suspension in 20 seconds or less. This you would have to agree takes a certain amount of athletic ability.
I think Bush makes a good beer wouldn't you agree? No? Beltway your self down to "Bush Gardens" take the tour.

It is a sport....a MOTORSport. It also has to do with endurance. That's like saying I'm an athlete just like Lance Armstrong because I ride my bike on the weekends. Ooh, look out Tour de' France here I come.
I'd like to see you drive on the beltway at 200 mph with 42 other drivers doing the same all jockying for position in a tight area.
