I was having very bad pains in the right side of my lower abdomen and I assumed that it had something to do with my appendix. I then went to the doctor and it began to hurt on my left side as well. He had me do a pelvic ultrasound to see if I had an ovarian cyst. The test came in and I didnt. He said he didnt think it was kidney stones because I wasnt having any blood, but this morning I woke up with blood. Im not sure if this could be because of kidney stones or my menstrual cycle. Any one can help?

Diagnosis of kidney stones is based on (1) history (severe pain in flank region, often radiating down the groin and or genital area, usually sudden in onset, not associated with any preceding symptoms such as fever, nausea, urinary symptoms, diarrhea), (2) dipstick exam of urine (often shows presence of blood, but almost never frank blood...in other words, if you have kidney stones, you would be passing blood in your urine even if it doesn't look red, but you wouldn't be urinating tomato ketchup-coloured urine, if you know what I mean), and (3) other imaging studies (such as xray, CT scan or ultrasound).
If you woke up with visible blood on your pad/pants etc, chances are, it came from your vagina, not your urethra (where your urine comes from) and therefore, the pain you had may be related to your menstruation.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
