hey, i recently started listening to rise against. i had listened to poppier punk before, like simple plan and green day, which, admittedly, aren't bad, but when i heard rise against, i loved it. are there any other bands like that? its a great sound. i'm starting a band. maybe we might want to try to incorperate that into our sound, consindering that pop-punk is so freakin sold out. so just leave the band name and songs.

yeah, i like green day too, but hardcore is a whole diferant scheme. i have 3 greenday CDs

I'm sorry but green day and simple plan are not punk in my opinion. They are pop rock.
But here's a few bands you should check out:
Lagwagon
No use for a name
Millencolin
NOFX
Face to face
Strung Out
Anti-Flag
Pennywise
The Vandals
Etc.

Please don't ever use Simple Plan and Green Day in the same sentence except as follows..."Simple Plan really blows, but you know who doesn't...Green Day" NoFX is also sweet, so is Atreyu...and Evergreen Terrace is awesome if you're at all into hardcore covers of other popular songs. Try "Mad World" or "Zero" by ET.

i thought RATM was alternative rock? i think thats what ur looking for... if so: bands like linkin park, three doors down, system of adown, three days grace, if not, and ur looking for punk theres: sex pistols, blink, Goldfinger, NOFX...etc.etc..
