I want to have pictures linked to the spreadsheet so that as the sheet is being used two images come up. the selected image goes through to the next stage. easist example is a football league. arsenal and man u are the rivals. you hit the excel button and the team pics pop up. you then choose which team wins and click on them. does this make sense?

What you want to do I think would need to be done with quite an elaborate set of macros and visual basic programming. It will be quite a lot of work if it's a one-off requirement.

Wow coincidence! I'm doing that right now!

I haven't got it worked out yet but I reckon I can do it with the various calculating tools available on Excel.

for example: have a cell for each teams score in each game. add up the value for all those cells to get the teams goals for. Add up their opponents scores to get goals against.

Use if function to assign a value of 3 for each victory and add these up. Use same to assign a value of 1 for each draw. Add them up to get the points.

Doing games played might be a little more complicated, but I'm working on it!

excel is probably not the best program to do this.

it will take complex macros and functions to work.

could look for a "topps" card game software and modify it.
