Great Britain doesn't need the European Union. Do you really want to get your orders from Paris or Brussels?

I think it will give most of Europe a better chance in the economic global community (which is dominated by America and China with India at a distant third), though I believe because of American-British ties Britain does benefit from that setup as it is now and may hurt itself if it tries to join the EU and (possibly) alienates America. Which is the main reason I believe Britain is limiting its involvement in the whole deal.
I think it could be a possibility to unite Europe as you see it but it will take a lot more work and diplomacy than it looks like any of the countries are willing to put into it, so I doubt it will happen for some time and maybe never.

Agathe, you're so unfamiliar with your own country. The UK mentality is NOT like Americans' mentality. You people, and I mean EUROPEANS are so self-identifying that if it were up to you, each would have their own little country. Even people from Wales, Northern Ireland, and GB don't stand each other because they have such a different mentality from each other. The same with the Barcelona/Valencia Spanish and the Castilian Spanish, and the same with the Bretagne French and Bordeaux French, and the same with the Naples Italians and the Florence italians. You Europeans are not even accepting of your own country, I'm surprised the EU has survived at all.

It would be the greatest democracy on this planet if and when we decide to become a full member of Europe. But unfortunately that decision does not lie in our hands. The present relationship that we have with USA administration prevents us from achieving this goal, as Tony Blair is under strict instructions from the White House not to allow us to even vote on the issue.
When we Europeans do however achieve this goal, we need to adopt a European bill of rights as quickly as possible to protect every European Citizen from interference from other countries such as the USA, and in particular the present American administration, whose record on Human Rights abuse, has even surpassed those of the Chinese Government.
When Europe does eventually unite, perhaps we should rename it 'NUTOPIA'. In honour of John Lennon, one of the worlds greatest statesman for Peace and Freedom to all.
Long live Europe.

We have already had 700,000 economic migrants invade our shores since the last expansion of the EU. NO! we do not need to be part of this diabolical social experiment.
I will vote for any party that will promise to make a priority of pulling us out of the EU and giving us British liberty and freedom from the fascism eminating from the EU and Whitehall.

The EUSSR will not last through the great number of tests that will confront it over the next... third-half century. Too much in the way of cultural conflict and old blood feuds for it to survive "long".
The Britons would be served best by keeping a comfortable between themselves and the dublicity of the Franks and the Deutsch.

Being European, I would prefer UK staying out of Europe, because UK's mentality is more American than European.
Well explained by Tony who speaks better English than I can.

Black and white to me... you'd share eachothers successes and failures... Britan tends to be much more successful than most other EU countries. Union would result in other countries dragging Britan down...
