Were either an isolated legend, perhaps not.

But, there is also Ogo Pogo, Mkole membe (in Africa, spelled wrong, no doubt) as well as some others in South America.

One, a legend, perhaps two. When several are a part of cultural folklore around the globe, one must acknowledge that there may be something there.

The Psilocanthe (probably misspelled as well) was thought to have been extinct for 200,000 years, until one turned up alive and well in the late part of the last century.

Consider the giant squid. They have been found up to 60 feet in length, with eyes the size of garbage can lids. But, never alive, always washed up on a beach somewhere. Yet, centuries ago, there were tales of huge sea serpents or sea monsters, that were dismissed as impossible. Perhaps these were encounters with live giant squid, who could have turned these sailors into calamari.

Only a closed mind would dismiss their existence out of hand. As for me, I think they are probably out there, along with hundreds of other unknown species in the true final frontier, the deepest of the world's ocean trenches, of which we know nothing at all.

No freaking way! With the amount of food they would require to live... they would literally eat themselves out of house and home!
