This is not the way to frame this question. In most cases, an appeal is not "granted." If you have a right to appeal, you have to file a notice of appeal within a short period, often 10 days. Then the appellant has to take further steps to "perfect" the appeal: arrange to have the relevant portions of the trial record transcribed and relevant exhibits sent to the appeals court, along with the formal written brief of the appeal. The fee for filing the appeal must also be paid. If none of those things are done, the appeal will just sit there and eventually it will be dismissed.
