The last billing should be pro-rated to the day he moved out and he should be responsible for half of the bill to that date. You are responsible for the total bill, morally, after that date. He should cancel the account and you shuld open a new one in your name.

Should he refuse to pay his share of the billing any delinquencies will be reflected on his credit. This should be motivation for him to cough up what he owes.

If he refuses to cancel the account, you should again call the cable company and so advise and ask them what they advise.

In any case, you have a responsibility to pay half of the bill up to the day he vacated and full responsibility until such time as the service is available to you.

The bottom line is that if you do not pay the bill it will affect him and not you. The only way it will affect you is you might loose your cable when the disconnect service. I would explain the situation to the cable company and see if you can open a new account in your name at the same address so you wont have sevice interuption. But the cable company can not just take your word for it and disconect his cable line even if it is in your place. Just imagine if you didnt live together and just wanted revenge on someone you could call up a cable company or whatever in that matter and have it disconected. The companies have to protect themselves. I would also call him too and let him know what is going on you may not want to talk to him at all but it would be the responsible thing to do.

be smart darling.. it's in his name and i'd let it stay in his name.. so whenever u don't want to pay the bill eventually it'll get disconnected but it'll be on him.. he should've been smart enough to have it disconnected...

then when u need cable and they say there's a bill at that location u let them know that u don't have nothing to do w/that.. show them ur lease so they can see that ur not that same person.. h e l l tell them it was ur roomates who left.. tell them u tried to contact them but to no avail.. and let them know u contacted cable to and document the date and time and person who u spoke with and tell them what they told u.. which was that person who's name it was in has to call...
