I am trying to clean them to give to my granddaughter because they belonged to her mommy and daddy. I have successfully cleaned their faces with Goo Gone but their bodies are quite dirty. They say surface clean but I thought I remembered that you could put them in a pillow case and wash them on gentle. Looking forward to a response from someone who has washed them successfully (either in the machine or by hand.)

My mom always used the pillow case method. Don't put them in the dryer, just lay it on a towel to dry. Also, be sure to wash on cold and use a gentle detergent (non-bleach of course). You may want to remove the head (I am assuming that the head is plastic) of the doll before putting in the washer so that the hair won't get all nasty and frizzy. use some loose stitching to keep the stuffing coming out of the doll.

My mom used to do it with some soap and water and a tooth brush. The cotten within could get screwed up if put in the washer. Just a guess.

I have two cabbage patches that I got 1980, my mom always hand washed them. She was afraid that they would fall apart in the washer. If you had wash them, try using woolite, it is gentle on the cloth.
