For your serve I would use your forehand grip. Suicides are'nt necessary but I would run.

The modern forehand grip is the semi-western grip. This allows you to generate plenty of topspin for control. The backhand depends on what type it is: continental for slice, eastern for one-handed topspin or drive, and continental or eastern for a two-handed backhand.
As far as the serve is concerned, a continental grip is the standard grip for slice and flat. You may need to shift to a backhand grip to hit a topspin or kick serve. The type of serve you hit depends on how aggressive you are and the situation. Slice, flat and topspin are all useful on a first serve. The slice and topspin give a little extra margin for error on a second serve.
I would recommend talking to a pro or at least a very solid player to go over the details of each.

few pros use the forehand grip for serving ... in fact most use the backhand grip as it allows a better follow thru. The forehand grip results in the racquet banging into your wrist.
Ultimate power on the forehand is obtained via western or semi-western ... but don't tell that to Pete Sampras, who I believed used a classic Eastern grip.

you shouldn't use contenental for your forhand there is a totaly different grip for that. you can do suicides if you want or you could just run a little every day or so. you need to use contenental grip for your serve, on your first serve try to serve it flat. but on your second serve you want some slice on it so that it goes to there back hand and is hard to return.

Contrary to what others may have said... DO NOT use your forehand grip on your serve. You won't have the control. As to what type of serve to use on first serve... I think its best to mix it up. Remember, placement is more important than power.

well for serve, backhand, and volley always go with a continental grip. for a forhand just use a natural forehand grip.

Do not use a continental grip on your forehand. It will be as flat as a pancake.

Kung Fu Grip. Haha, just kidding. I usually use whatever is natural to myself and my wrist. It has been a long time since I have played though.
