I have a new (to me) computer - OS Windows 2000. It works fine but the internet pages do not fill the whole screen. It is very annoying. This Answers page for example has a 2inch margin either side of it. What can I do to change it?

You are just dealing with different page sizes. The answers page is designed to fit on an 800 pixel wide windows, while the yahoo main page requires a much wider window (1024 in narrow mode, wider for normal mode). Pick a resolution that feels right for you, if you do not mind horizontal scroll bars use 800 x 600. If you have a big enough monitor and/or really hate scroll bars use a larger format such as 1024 wide.

not a problem. if you are using internet explorer, you can simply just double click on the title bar and that will expand any open window to full screen, then repeat the process to reduce the size back to it's former size. alternatively you should see at the top right of the screen you will see an underscore (_) with an X far right now inbetween you will see what looks like two squares or rectangles overlapping each other click on the rectangles has the same effect of double clicking the title bar.

Change your screen resolution. You can right-click on your desktop, and select properties. Then select the settings tab.
You might be on 640x480.
Try 800x600.
