The father determines the sex of the child.
Male chromosomes are XY
Female chromosome are XX
If a male X chromosome meets with a female X chromose than it's a daughter. On the other hand if a male Y chromose meets with a female X chromose than it's a son. Since only male have the Y chromose required to have a son, the father determines the sex of the child.

The male determines the sex of the baby , they have X ( female )sperm and they have Y ( male ) sperm. The mother ( all women with the exception af very few) have what is an XX chromosome and men are XY. So , to make a long story short, the maother always contributes an X to the mix and if the father contributes an X as well you have a girl XX and if the father contributes a Y then you have a boy XY. There are very few women that are only X instead of XX and these women can not have children and they have what is called Turners syndrome.

The male parent determines the gender of the child. Men's chromosomes are XY. Women are XX. Women's eggs thus are X. Men's sperm are either X or Y. If male X fertilizes the X egg - you end up with a girl; if male Y fertilizes then you get a boy.

This is why it is so very ironic that Henry the 8th in England kept divorcing (and sometimes executing) his wives - He blamed them for not giving him a son when in fact it was HIS problem!

The male determines the sex of the baby.
I knew the man determined the sex, but I wasn't sure how to explain it, so I looked it up!
Males have two types of sperm:

y-chromosome sperm (male)

x-chromosome sperm (female)

If a y-chromosome sperm fertilizes the egg, you are carrying a girl. If an x-chromosome sperm fertilizes the egg, you are carrying a boy!

Men carry the determining chromosomes but the speed at which his sperm swim is also a factor. Sperm with female chromosomes actually swim faster then male Sperm, because of this a man with slow swimming sperm is more likely to produce boys then a man with fast swimming sperm .

Okay: boy = XY girl = XX (X and Y are chromosomes that determine the sex of the baby.)
All eggs are X(the first letter in all babies) and sperm can be either X or Y, so the sperm determines the sex of the baby.
