You should do a routine before going to bed that way baby gets used to the routine and will know it's bed time. Also try giving him his bath in the evening it makes some babies sleepy. My boy doesn't sleep all night yet he's 7 weeks old he wakes up for food still. But he stays awake in the daytime and sleeps nearly all night he only wakes up for food. Keep him on a routine it should work.

All of my kids were sleeping through the night by about six weeks, except for my youngest, and she actually started sleeping all night at four weeks.
I don't know that there is really anything can do for a tiny baby to promote them to sleep all night. I know some experts will tell you let the baby cry if they have been fed and changed and all that, but I just didn't have the heart to do that! There was nothing more upsetting to me then to hear my baby cry.

My 6 month old has been sleeping through the night since he was 4 months. We always lay him down awake so that if he does wake up during the night he doesn't need us there to rock him back to sleep or to find the pacifier. He also has a solid routine. Bath at 6:30, last bottle at 7:00 and bed at 7:30. He doesn't get up until 7:30 the next morning. I hear him wake up every now and then and play but he doesn't cry out and gets himself back to sleep. We're VERY lucky!

I have an eleven month old that briefly slept through the night when he was 3 months old. He now wakes up at 4:30 to 5:30 every morning. The Pediatrician says he should make it through that morning feeding around a year.
Every baby's different though!!

I have to say that I too was very lucky like maeknits. My son was three days old & was blessed with him sleeping through the nights.
A routine is very important indeed. A quite home is a content home I always say. A nice warm bath before bed always helps to relax the baby.
Thing is, what works for one baby doesn't always work for another. You'll have to try new things to see what works for your little one. It takes about a week to know if it's going to work or not. My sister's oldest son didn't adapt to anything except for soft music being played on the radio. You'll know through trial & error.
Good Luck ;o)

You really don't want your baby to sleep through the night too early. Your baby needs to be feed throughout the night. NO it won't starve if it doesn't eat at night, but you baby needs to gain weight steady.

Well my daughter was a calm baby anyway she didn't cry all night long. She may not have slept but she would just lay there though and look up. I think that it depends on what you did during the pregnancy on whether or not you will have a calm child. All the time while I was pregnant I laid up on a recliner and ate.

My son was sleeping through the night around 3 months. If it's OK with your Dr. add some rice cereal to the baby's bottle at night...that seems to help.
