I liked Dobie Gillis. I could see the actor who plays Malcolm in Malcolm in the middle (sorry, forgot his name) as Dobie and as Maynard, I cannot think. At first the kid on 2 and a half men, but he does not seem the beatnik type..

Better question: Why? Why would you want to bring this show back? No one could play the role better then Dwayne Hickman and his friend, Maynard G. Gribbs, by the late Bob Denver.
they try to do this with Bewitched and that was just sad!
Bring these shows back on reruns! That would be better!
