As a white working class man, I disagree.
However, I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes. All week, I dress in trousers & shirts for the office, so I thnk I look pretty tidy.
On the weekend I do dress like a tramp in old t-shirts and tracky bottoms with trainers. This is purely for comfort though, as I'm usually doing household chores / DIY or just lounging around at home.
Edit: On second thought, maybe because we are comfortable with our status and don't feel we need to impress anyone with a flashy outfit which makes us look like we have more money than we actually do. I certainly get some strange looks from shop assistants when I wear decorating clothes while spending a few hundred pounds or so on the platinum card!! (True)

most people wear what they like and feel comfortable in or follow the latest trends .. as for me i am what you call *working class* i don't dress like a tramp unless a tramp wheres heels, skirts, shirt and stockings even when not at work so i think you should stand back and take a look at yourself i bet you are one of those ppl who wear there pants half hanging off cos that's what everyone else does .. learn to think for your self and don't judge other ppl

Trampy? Maybe the ones who dress trampy are trampy. As for the rest of us, we're not all preoccupied with how people see us. Also, we could be more worried about how we spend our money. If wearing label free clothes and refusing to put our kids in name brand shoes that they will grow out of in three months means it will keep us off of welfare and in a decent reliable car then f*** it.

I agree. My father, my brother, my Granddad and my Great Granddad all dress like tramps despite the fact they have loads of money. Ironically, I am the poorest member of my family yet I dress adorably.

Great generalization, there. Most do not. A few do.
And race does not matter. Some people will always dress poorly. Could be that they can't afford better clothes, or could be that they just don't care.
But to make it a racial issue is ridiculous.

Ooooooo!
I guess you are British - and studying the class system.
I don't think you can generalise!
But you do sound racist, saying "EVEN" blacks and Asians.....
I wonder how YOU dress? And what class you are from?
But to try and answer your question - I guess it would seem that education and money help with dress sense?
But does it really matter?
