Cuz they are immature & want to fit in with the "popularity crowd They don't really know who they are cuz they are too busy looking at how everyone else lives their lives.. trying to become someone they really are not!
They want to feel "accepted" instead of accepting themselves & knowing who they, themselves really are.
Part of it is also materialism, & vanity...
People whos lives revolve around what people think of them (others opinions).. Those people are not living their lives at all. They are living a big fake lie for a life... It is sad really.
(I enjoy others opinions from time to time, Some opinions are just funny, others crazy, others helpful, others just out there & wrong...However someone elses opinion of me & don't change who I am.
I am after all me. :)

Make-up, plastic surgery, deoderant, nifty cars instead of junkers, ironed clothes, hair cuts, not passing gas near people(animals do it all the time, they go potty where ever they want to and have sex in the street), being PC, not closing the bathroom door...

Many people get their sense of self worth from others. If people like them, they feel good about themselves, and if people don't, they feel bad about themselves.
It is a problem, since people should try to have enough faith and confidence in themselves to do what they think they should without worrying about the opinions of others.
But that doesn't seem to work in the real world.

They are insecure and need to feel accepted. Then there are some that just like to see what people think and are not concerned but just inquisitive like me. I'm just down right nosey!

Because alot of times we are never taught to think for our self so we must rely on thers to make our decisions!

We all need some measure of acceptance.
It would be extremely lonely to be marching to your own beat all the time.
Some people need more than others.
