Which ones do and which ones don't?
Why do you think this is?

Some could argue that we are all humans and that is the true identity that is at risk here.

I see and understand what has been said so far, but would you please elaborate a bit more. Give some examples of specific cultures. (eg. Why so you think the Irish in NI are so involved with their identity, while the Americans aren't?) - just an example, don't bash.

Cultural identity is important. It says who and what a person is. In modern America it has become popular----particularly in the public school system---for people to deny their American heritage and focus on multiculturalism, a demonic theme whereby the individual melts into the masses with no singular identity as an American. Americans have a unique culture and it is being squandered for the sake of globalism. I AM NOT a segregationist---I believe that we should all live together in a mixed environment enjoying equal rights and sharing our cultures for the benefit of all. But somehow educators and politicians have gotten this all screwed up and decided that none of us should have any sort of individual identity.

Any group of people that don't try to retain their cultural identity will lose their cultural identity and will die off like the dodo bird. You may be seeing it that way because you are of the majority race and don't see why they have to advertise . They do it so you will be more aware and understanding of why they live and think the way they do. History is very important to self.

Americans aren't involved with their national identity?
have you ever been there? they sing the national anthem when the post office opens on a morning, they have giant flags everywhere, the kids spout off the pledge of allegiance everyday.
Whats wrong with keeping your identity? with the ever changing world, isn't it nice to keep something?

it's just that some people feel they have to defend their group values while other people don't really feel there is anything worth fighting others about.
