Hi im a orthopaedic plaster technician in the uk,it sounds to me you have either an infection or inflammation to your ankle,if you ankle or foot is swollen you need to keep it elevated about the heart, apply cold comprest to the area and go see your Gp or Dr where he will either give you inflammatry pills or pain killers,he may also refer you to your local hospital for treatment.Good Luck.

You could have symptoms of an infection, if the area is red, or becomes painful, or you develop a fever. An Aspiration of synovial fluid and synovial fluid analysis should probably be done. Non-Steroid anti-inflammatory meds may be prescribed. Surgery is also occasionally necessary. I would strongly advise you to see your primary doc.

You have some form of inflammation.

There is some evidence that the atmospheric pressure can affect the joints - especially arthritic ones.
