Just take the thing back. It is supposed to be fit for it's purpose under the sale of goods act. Then get a wireless dongle to plug in your USB port and that will connect your computer wirelessly to your router. Incidentally, sys files are data files used by program files in the system. It was probably for XP to use to configure it for ethernet.

In "Windows", click "Start", point to "Find" and click the "Files or folders" option. Click the "Name & Location" tab, in the "Named" box type "*.*" (without quotes), leave the "Containing text" box empty and, in the "Look In" box select "My Computer". Click to check the "Include subfolders" checkbox and click "Find now".
In the results box, you can arrange the files as you like to find whatever you are looking for.
