there are not as many fat people as you think. there are more fit people in America than now. you only see the fat ones because they are like a bad penny and stick out. like a car crash or train wreck on the news. you never hear about all the cars that made it to work without getting into a reck, only the ones that crash. same with the fatties, they are a small group that have the same percentage ratio on TV that they have in the population of the country.

The fat people make up the background....... Mount Rushmoor is really three fat American t**ts sellotaped together and painted gray. The mountain in close encounters was really the superimposed neck from an American doughnut muncher too! The only true appearance of a fat American was in Ghost-busters (the Pillsbury dough boy).

Because we don't want to stare at fat people. Isn't it bad enough we have to look at obese people rolling around the streets during the day. TV should be our escape from that reality not a reflection of it. Do you want to see more jelly rolls every time you watch a show?

Programs in the US portray an ideal not the reality. Just look at the US version of the BBC comedy Red Dwarf where Dave Lister is a paragon not an ill-educated skiver.

Maybe the image that Americans have of themselves is not consistent with reality.
Perhaps the TV programs reflect how they want to look rather than how they are (statistically).

They're starting to become more popular now that wide screen TV's are more affordable.
Personally, who wants to look at a fat ***?

Fat people are ugly, and we see enough of them stuffing french fries into their faces at McDonald's. We don't need to see them on TV.
