I've seen people in wheel chairs on ice, but I don't think the experience would be any different from roller blading for the disabled person (roughly the same principle, isn't it). However, I love ice skating and would recommend it to anyone!!

If the child enjoys it and the rink is sensible enought to let them join in, yes! If they won't and plead some cruddy regulation, don't give them your money.
Have you tried your local Riding for the Disabled group? You must go to a proper registered group as the ponies need to be specially trained. I don't see why the family couldn't go as a group, or you could sit and watch. Its great for wheelchair users because for once they are looking down on everyone else! Plus, once they get the hang of it they can get off the lead rein and have 4 legs under their control.

Yes why not. You will need to speak to the rink manager if you intend on going on the ice with the wheel chair but i dont see why not.

Why not, if you can skate while pushing him then go for it, i wouldn't take him if you can't coz it might be a bit of a disappointment him having to sit and watch, so i would deffo's check with the ice rink manager before you go to avoid disappointment.

can they stand up? do you want them to skate or just watch? do you have some specially designed chair with ice skates on it? Will the ice center allow this?

I don't see why not if it is possible but I can't really see the chair bieng allowed on the ice due to H+S.
