get rid of the goalie !
or at least make him stand further away from the goal
that way the scores would be like up in the 100's - i think that would be cool as hell

Soccer is not boring, it's just you and your life that is boring. If you don't like somebody, do you think that person will like you back? No. Same goes with sports, if you don't like a certain sport, you will never understand it and get to appreciate it. So, are you trying to tell me that the millions of fans all over the world that play, watch, and live soccer are stupid or boring? No. It's just you that thinks it is boring. As for myself, I don't like American football. It is boring and they stop every minute. It is also rough, and senseless. By the time you finish playing the game, you will definitely take like a hundred "Tylenol". So back to your question. Soccer cannot improve itself to be boring. It is one of the best sports in the world. Let me give you a tip: watch Barclay's Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup. You will find some of the best matches on the planet there. Especially, Barclay's Premier League and UEFA Champions League. I think you will find them very interesting and I'm not just saying watching the first 5 or 10 minutes, I'm talking about watching the whole game. Also try and get a soccer handbook and read all the rules. Do anything that will enable you to understand soccer and enjoy it? I hope I have been able to convince you to not judge and bias sports. Good luck.

There are couple of possible improvements.

Liberal Substitution: In most league games, a team can substitute only up to three players, which in turn slows the game down after the 60th minute, as the players face fatigue. By eliminating the substitution limit, like that in Basketball, the game can keep its high energy, fast-pace all throughout the 90 minutes and we'll probably see more goals.

4 quarters, rather than 2 halves: Will have the above anti-fatigue effect. Additionally, this will boost advertising revenues. The reason why many 'American' sports bank higher revenues is commercials revenues. Think about how many commercial breaks there are in basketball and football, not to mention baseball. Hence, three mid-game breaks will, in turn, begin to generate higher revenues for soccer; over the long term the game will be much more exciting, as training, quality of the players, and facilities begin to improve.

I think it's because you're not used to watching soccer games. True, some games are boring. But most games you see on TV aren't.

I don't watch rugby, so I can't say that it's a boring game. I just never took an interest in it (maybe because my dad used to watch soccer more than rugby).

As for American football (I'm French), I saw my first game on TV in 2002. Well, I found that extremely boring. For me, there's no action, they keep on stopping. I found it really boring! But the thing is, I don't really know the rules (some briefly explained the main rules to me), so it's probably why I found it so boring.

I think it's just a question of what you were used to seeing on TV when you were younger. American football is pretty much never shown on TV, so people don't care about it. And we don't have good teams. Same with soccer in America. You don't have competitions as there are all over the world. So you don't get to see games every week (in England, you can see one every day!).

I love soccer and am a big of it. For a game not to be boring, you have to have some interest in the game. For example, in the NFL there are some boring games. Really boring! But when I put money on the game or have a player on my fantasy team. Makes it a lot more entertaining. I encourage you to find a team, and become a fan, not a critic.

Go DC United!

Boring...

For someone to consider the game to be boring, well, you're not a true fan.

Sure there are matches that are not as exciting, but there are many elements of the game that make it "unboring" and in fact, the most exciting game out there.

You'd have to be a fan to understand..

How can bill w improve himself to not be so boring?

You are ridiclous. If you don't like it don't watch it. Football fans (yes, it's called football in the real world!) are perfectly happy with it, and we don't want it "improved", thank you very much.
