It changes traffic patterns. It can help people do one stop shopping & waste less gas & time. It can contribute to the death of a town's real center, as people go more to the mall & less into town. It uses up (sometimes) valuable land that could be utilized for growing crops. It encouages other businesses & housing & roads to be built close by that use even more land. It can help contribute to juvenile delinquency, allowing younger teens to hang out loittering aimlessly and harrasing mall shoppers. Those are just some observations I have made, having lived in a once small town that got a mall.

Positive: Increased revenue to the community, convenient access to shopping

Negative: Overcrowding, increased crime
