I have a concrete stock tank that I have 6 cows drinking out of but I don't want to empty it to get rid of the mosquito larvae. (They would just come back a week later.) What should I do? I don't want to cause any harm to the cows.

My sister keeps goldfish in her horses water tanks. They eat up the larvae and don't bother the animals.

There is really no good way to KILL the mosquito larvae without harming the cows, that I know of. I know a few repellent tricks, however. You can grow garlic at the back of the stock tank, or put some garlic barrier in the water; it won't hurt the cows, but they may not like the taste or smell. You can also grow marigolds around the tank, that will keep the adult mosquitoes away.
Good luck!

Vegetable oil will not harm the cattle and creates a film on the water. Anything that deprives the larvae of air will kill them as well as mosquitoes will not breed in a film-coated environment.

you might try a little bit of chlorine. I would call your vet and make sure first.
