For those of you that have had your membranes stripped during pregnancy, how far along were you, and did it work for you? I have my doctor's visit today and i'm 39 weeks and wondering if this is something that I could possibly ask him to do.

Stripping of the membranes or "Sweeping " the membranes is a type of labor inducer. It can be very painful and non-productive. Consider it carefully before agreeing to the procedure. The only person who knows when your baby will be born is the BABY.
Patience patience patience.
Quote from link below:
"Routine use of sweeping of membranes from 38 weeks of pregnancy onwards does not seem to produce clinically important benefits. When used as a means for induction of labour, the reduction in the use of more formal methods of induction needs to be balanced against women's discomfort and other adverse effects."
All my best~

Mine was stripped at about 38 weeks w/o my consent with my first. It didn't work. Took another week until I went into labor on my own.

its a way to induce labor. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. to me its just another myth, ie eating spicy food, having sex, etc. its gonna happen when it happens.
