Since the beginning of the year I have had a sore throat, glands keep going up and down, furry tongue, what look like blood blisters in the roof of my mouth and throat, ulcers and generally feel very unwell. I have been to the hospital after my GP had tried, mouthwashes, drops, anti-biotics etc but all the hospital have said is to try Difflam (mouthwash) and go back in September, I pointed out that this has been going on since early February and that I have tried mouthwashes that my GP prescribed but I don’t think the consultant was actually listening. (I have also tried a few alternative therapies but nothing is helping as of yet)
Any sensible thoughts on what is going on would be great, many thanks

Many thanks for all your answers, I don’t have thrush, have had many blood tests some return abnormal and others ok, it is the blood count that’s normally abnormal, I don’t have indigestion anymore and haven’t since I was put on a medication called lansoprazole (a long time before the throat thing started).
I have seen 2 different GP’s within my surgery and referred to ENT specialist who just gave me another mouthwash and told me to come back in Sept.
I had tonsils out when young, do not smoke, veggie with a healthy low fat diet I don’t work with money, I forgot to say tried different anti-fungals with me too. Is hydrogen peroxide not bleach? Can this be dangerous? I change my toothbrush every 3-4 weeks, which I buy from the dentists, I use a good toothpaste which my dentist said is ok. I do eat a lot of mushrooms and qourn so I shall leaving them out for a while, I don’t drink alcohol, I am still using the mouthwash from the hospital at present but do often use just salt water

Do you handle money?...... My brother had a similar problem... the hospital said he had an allergic reaction to the level of zinc in the coins he had been counting (euros). He was given specific anti-biotics (what type I don't know). Hope this helps!

This is a home remedy that my Dentist started me on when I got strep 40 years ago and it keeps a healthy mouth. Very inexpensively.

I still use it every day and have healthy gums and it heals any and all kinds of painful situations in your month. After you floss and your gums are tender it works great. I brush with it to get it between my teeth but you can just swish it mouthwash style.

Three Percent Hydrogen Peroxide!!! A 16 oz. bottle is about 50 cents. It is usually next to alcohol in any drug department of a grocery, drug store or big box store.

Take a swig after brushing your teeth morning and evening (since you want to heal your mouth)
Do NOT swallow it. Brush your teeth and gums with it. It tastes a little funky and bubbles. But the bubbles do the healing. Then spit out and yes I rinse. Good Luck. I hope this works for you. Be sure to do it twice a day for a week to give it a chance. If it hasn't worked in a week it probably won't.

Use a cotton ball and put a little of it on external
Boo Boos whatever they might be, works to.

I've had the same problem since August 2005.

GP was great and tried a lot of things, eventually he referred me to hospital but the consultant was rubbish. He just told me as it had been a problem so long it no longer constituted a problem.

So I swalled my pride, and my bak balance, and went private. the Doctor (or rather the 'Mr' ) I saw was really thorough and helpful. he sent my GP a letter with a prescription recommendation.

I went to the GP today for the prescription. He laughed his head off when he read Mr's letter. GP is Spanish and he started on about 'you English always prescribe anti acid reflux when you don't know what to do'.

So I'm started 3 months of anti-acid with no real belief it'll work.

Really hope you get more success!

This is an interesting question, because one of my friends has the same symptoms.

She has been given mouth washes, antibiotics, anti fungals but nothing seems to work.

It has been going on for months, with the infection abating, only to surface again in one or two weeks.

She is going through it right now, and it is very depressing.

She has gone to an ears nose and throat specialist besides her GP to no avail.

Anyone knows about this condition? Could it be the pre-cursor to something nastier?

Any help appreciated.

It can take a long while to get these types of infections under control. I suggest you review your diet; choose food that has low acid content and remove any yeast products and fungus too (mushrooms, bread, beer, wine, blue cheese) - eat fish and white meats only.
Next get rid of any old tooth brushes and start from scratch keeping all very hygienic. Choose mouthwashes that have no alcohol content - strong salt water will do the job. Brush after every meal.

Sounds like some kind of tonsillitis affair to me. Are you run down? That could make things worse. I've had a similar problem and it was down to stress and not sleeping, etc. Also, if you smoke I don't think it helps much.
