The mosquitos are HORRIBLE at my house. I think they are attracted to the Azalea bushes we have. Does anyone know anything we can spray on the bushes that will get rid of the mosquitos, but not harm the bushes?

Yea we make sure we don't have any standing water anywhere. But if you walk into the Azalea bushes, the mosquitos come swarming out. Its crazy.

Mosquitos need puddles or stagnant water to breed in. Do you have that kind of condition around your azaleas? Find the little places in your yard with the standing water & you can eliminate the mosquitos.

Also, have you ever tried planting the herb Rosemary or the plant called Mosquito plant? Either one in pots or in the ground will help repel the mosquitos.

My grandmother's house had box hedging and they ended up pulling up the hedging and getting rid of it. That was a drastic move but they also lived near a very wet wooded area where the mosquito's were coming from. You can find different insecticides that are not harmful to the azaleas. Some you can mix with water an spray it onto the affected areas. The spray that I use on my roses is supposed to fight both fungal and insect problems. Look at your local home and garden store.

Also they have come up with a propane fueled mosquito "trap". I think that it works off the knowledge that these pesky bugs are attracted to the carbon dioxide that we emit. This trap gives off the same gas and trap the pest and they die. I priced one of these things and the cost was too much for my budget. Check into it.

One last suggestion, try mixing water and Lemon Joy dish washing solution. This will deter many bugs but I'm not sure that it will work for mosquitoes. Just put 1/2 cup in your Miracle Grow sprayer and spray it on to the azaleas. The water that goes into the sprayer will dilute the solution and it will also put off a pleasant smell. Good luck.

Go to wal-mart and get a pint of "Malathion" and
spray your bushes. That will get rid of the mosquitos.
Will not hurt the plants. Just follow the directions on
the label.

Had the same problem.. mine was in a hug clay pot by the entrance door. Buy Organocide, organic insect killers safe for plant, flowers & vegetables. Carefully, read the instructions before you use it. Available in most hardware stores.
