perfectly normal - some spike more than others.
I have 2 daughters 13 and 15.
PS it's normal for boys too. I have a 17 year old son
Get ready for the ride dearie - teens are great!!
the trick is to stay calm and patient and ALWAYS listen to them and communication will not break down for you.
When your daughter is moody, give her a hug (if she'll even let you) and say "I love you no matter what (now please do the dishes !!!") hahahahahaha

Okay, this is coming from me,(a 12 year old girl), yes it is normal. That's what I was and am like around my mom too. I did that a while. It is completly normal. She will (if hasn't already) get her period soon. I would ask her. If you give an honest question she'll give an honest answer. Just say "Hi, I wanted to talk to you about your period. If you haven't started yet then you will soon. I don't mean to worry you."Have a pack of pads and or tampons for her. Give them to her and say "These are for you when you get your first period. If that is you haven't gotten it already." And, without a doubt when you leave the room the mood swings will start back up.

It is completely normal, due to the hormones produced by the onset of puberty, but that doesn't mean you and she just have to suffer through it. If the mood swings are affecting her ability to function during the day, damaging her relationships, or making her profoundly unhappy, there are lots of things she can do to make it better, from simple things like exercise and meditation, to actual treatment by a therapist or psychiatrist.

Precisely BECAUSE you are her mom.
I would say normal. But keep in mind that whatever your doctor tells you, whether he thinks it's attention deficit disorder, or bipolar disorder, don't start medicating your child just yet. Unless you want a zombie for a daughter.
But seriously, don't fall too easy for medication. It's probably her hormones, since she's barely getting the kick of imbalances in her body and she's probably in the early stages of premenstrual syndromes and all these other physiological changes that, normally, drive pre-teens crazy.
Good luck.

Normal? For a kid who is trying to manipulate you, sure. Does she have mood swings when other people are around? If not, you can be sure that her emotions are totally controllable when she WANTS them to be.
You need to nip this one in the bud as quickly as possible. Start out by telling her that she can control herself and the proof of this is she doesn't act out around other people. Then you tell her that she will not get what she wants when she behaves in a less-than-ladylike way. And then follow through with loss of priveledge when she does and be consistent.

Dont want to worry you bout drugs can play a big input in mood swings. I used to smoke cannabis every day and my parents knew about this to a degree they didn't like it but knew they couldn't stop me outside the house. and when i didn't have it they knew i hadn't smoked it because my mood swings were all over the place. this isn't just cannabis it can also be cocaine and ecstasy that changes mood swings.

It is called a hormonal change, probably when you are 13 you will get your first cycle. Your hormones are all over the place right now and we can attribute that to your mood swings!
