This happens usually at night, during sleep. I wake up and find my fingers numb and have to change position.

What it means is that you have poor blood circulation. Or it could be carpal tunnel syndrome. Either way you might want to tell your doctor.

Maybe you were laying on your hand, on your fingers. Are they bluish? Usually if there is a serious circulation problem, they will become discolored. You could have your elbow ben and decreased the circulation just enough to cause the numbness and tingling. Just change position and stop worrying. When they turn blue, then go to a Doctor.

You might just be sleeping on your arm or hand. Are all of your fingers numb or just some of them? Do your fingers go numb during the day? It might be carpal tunnel syndrome
It would be a good idea to see a doctor and have it checked out.

Are you pregnant? My hands and fingers would tingle during sleep while I was pregnant. It was from the tissues in the wrist swelling. It was carpal tunnel syndrome for me, but it went away after I gave birth.

Try a wrist support brace from a drugstore, that should provide some relief. You could also try icing it.

Most likely it's just that you have slept on it wrong and cut off the circulation, same as when your foot falls asleep when you sit on it. However, IF you notice it during the day as well, your neck is probably out of line and is pinching off a nerve. It has happened to my husband & my dad. It just needs an adjustment and you should be fine.

It could be numerous things! Is your whole arm numb? If so you could have something wrong with your heart. It could also be Poor Circulation, Carpul Tunnel, Nerve Pinched and etc...I would strongly suggest you go to your physican. he can give you test to find out what exactlly is going on.

p.s. but byt your symptoms it sounds like you have carpul Tunnel Syndrome.

You probably have carpal tunnel syndrome...like me. That happens to me every night.except its numbness with pain, goes up into wrists, arms, and even shoulders now. I dont have insurance, so I can't get it fixed. So thats why its gotten worse for me. You should get it checked if you can.

my whole arm does this at times. I just figure it has "fallen asleep" like your feet or leg would at times. actually I think it has something to do with the nerve being piinched, causing you not to feel anything. but I dont see how that would explain it being cold (mine gets cold and numb).
