In these discussions, it's always "USA vs. United Nations", but the US is a member, indeed the most influential member, of the UN. So if the UN is so bad, maybe the US is to blame as well, right?

EVERY nation has it's issues with the UN. Internatinal media ONLY reports on the US stance.

Many Americans would rather NOT be a part of the UN. It had lofty ideals when it first started, but it has gotten progressively ineffectual...and even worse...corrupt. I guess we stay in the hopes of bringing about some positive changes in it, so we can trust it again. That was a big reason why Bush selected Bolton to represent us there. If we could trust the UN again, maybe we wouldn't have to be doing so much in the world alone.

The UN is crap. I pass an old dudes house on my way to town everyday and he has a big sign in his front yard that says "Get the US out of the UN", I thought he was a nut for a while but now I agree with him. What does the UN do? Not a damn thing for me thats for sure.

Absolutely, If the US was smart they would leave the UN and kick them out of their rent free building. Since the US also pays by far the largest $$ amount of their budget, Let France pick up the difference

The US should probably cooperate a bit more, but hey who contributes more money to the UN than ANYONE? the US.

because the UN sucks and should be disbanded...why is it easy for everyone to blame America...rather than thank them for what it has done...people only look at the negative of America..why don't you try to see some good...

You should state the US Government not Americans
our president and congress make all these decisions, not the people. They are elected, by the people but they seem to do what they want after getting elected

the US is the primary funder and host nation of the UN...so the US has bought the right to do what ever they want.
