Because generally speaking, people in the US (and I am from the US as well) have been brainwashed by their society to be overly-patriotic, arrogant, and ethnocentric. It doesn't matter who is president at the time. Americans tend to act like this abroad as well, or to immigrants in their own country. We are NOT the only "free" and "civilized" nation out there. As a matter of fact there are several nations that are in fact "freer" and more "advanced" than we are. Do some research.
Merkava: Haha, why? Does the truth hurt? Open your eyes.
P.S. Thank you, Stony.
Good answer, Solirium.
Maria: Maybe you need to use that brain of yours and compose your OWN answers instead of just being reactionary to someone else's thought-out answer!

Merk,
You obviously don't understand the process of "getting out." Some day you may want to spend some time and realize that although it sounds easy from your small perspective: "getting out" of a country is something that is very very difficult to do.
Since you probably have never even moved out of your own home town, you're just going to have to trust me on that: one of the biggest issues is you have to usually move a family (and not just yourself) - find a job (and foreigners arn't giving jobs out to americans) - and then you have the problem of getting citizenship at another country or being an illegal alien. Oh, and no where in the world makes as much money as the states, so it's difficult to go over there with debt.
In any case, the reason people feed the fire of turmoil against our own government and way of living is because we all desire a change: unfortunately, in the last century or so we've had many changes - and everyone is kind of burnt out. We need a long period of facism to be able to perform a good revolution, but the Gov has a good grasp in sociology this time around, so they understand that constant turmoil is better than a period of quiet oppression followed by an explosion.
So, for those that complain and want change, their constant complaints are helping the government stay afloat because it's wasting energy that could be spent actually acting against revolt. In the end, the Gov wins. The only fear it has is that the yapping will become so inssessant that maybe someday people will actually stop to think about what they've been yapping about and take action.
We have yet to see.

If you end your phrase with "if you don't like it, get out", you don't really care, so I really shouldn't bother trying to find an answer for you.
Anyway I'll make an effort..."The Best" and "The Worst" meet in the U.S. Think about it, it's really not about Bush, it's about this land of contrasts, a land of many cultures trying to preserve their identity whilst existing in the U.S. Better existence is what everybody hopes for, but don't expect to necessarily receive gratitude for that universal right. I'm sure you have other issues beside Bush and I'm equally sure at some point you have spoken or you will speak them out, even though you are an American.
Everybody should be able to express ideas freely, or isn't this what the American spirit is all about!? Places where most people think alike are dangerous, and outright boring :), don't you think!

Well you say that but at the same there are Americans bashing other countries and not leaving them like Iraq or Iran. I feel people have a write to freedom of speech right or am i wrong. I do not hate America although I have had many bad experinces. No wonder things like Colombine happan at schools. Long story short I think people should consider what they say and when they say it.

because they are jealous of what we have. we started just over 200 years ago when other nations were already 1000's of years old and now we have passed them in many ways. hosebunny is right, we are not the only free nation in the world but that was not the question. pay attention, you got on the wrong soapbox, again. but hosebunny is wrong on the fact there is no nation more free or advanced than the USA. that is a fact. hosebunny, you need to get your butt out there and enjoy America and not put it down.

Get out? That's the ignorant person's answer to things. A true patriot would want to remain and change things for the better for the next generation.
Try not to act so "red-neck". You make yourself look like an idiot.

I do like President Bush. He's got a tough job to do. But I agree with you, if you don't like our country, get out!
