My account has been debited for a phone bill but still no sign of a bill with details of the costs.
I've contacted them twice over the last 2 weeks but still no luck. Surely service providers have to give you some notice of how much they're taking out of your account.

Any time that you purchase goods or services, a receipt must be available, detailing how much paid, to who and for what. If theu cannot produce a receipt, then there is no money due. They cannot demand payment if they cannot produce one.

Invoices are the exact same.

If they fail to produce a receipt/ invoice, you cna claim that the money is not due to them, and claim it back through your bank.

Contact them a third time, and still no luck, speak to your bank. Ussually, the prospect of a company getting faced with a recalled transaction is enough to make them pay attention.

Perfectly legal. ...because it is a service you agreed to for a certain amount each month. Most creditors have a notice on their statements that you are still obligated to pay even if you don't receive a statement.
