1) I don't think they are asking you about how you overcame the language differences. Communication difficulties occurs when two people (or groups) have different idea/concepts towards a subject/subjects. An example would be you're helping somebody complete task on database processing. She has a hard time completing the task fast because she doesn't know how to do one thing (like creating a formula) and trying to do it manually every time and causing mistakes and delay. But she has a pressure to finish and believe doing it manually is faster. Every time somebody say it's faster to learn the formula, she disagrees (communication failure). To overcome, you need to sit down with her and thoroughly understand how she does the processing. It will take time, but, you need to observe and let her explain why she thinks it's more efficient. Then explain by steps how you would do it until you could make her understand your reasoning. The key is to put yourself in her shoes and look at the subject from her point of view before trying to make her understand yours. This can also be a example of (2).

The first one is easy, have you ever helped a deaf person or helped someone from a different country.
Now for the second one, have you come up with a new way for doing a simple task at made it easier or came up with a cost saving way. These questions are asked to see if you can think on your feet and also to see if you can solve problems by yourself. The tasks do not have to be big ones, just something that you did to make a problem go away.

I've had both. For the first one I used an example of when I had to communicate with a co-worker who turned out to be illiterate. Also when I lived overseas and had to lean Italian. The second one was easy; every time my company had a meeting we discussed ways to perform our jobs better or safer. If this is your first job,try using examples from your own experiences. It's how you handle the situations that the employers are looking for. Good Luck!

1) They really want to know how you have addressed conflict by this question. Here's an example: A customer felt my employee was "having an attitude" and told me about it. As the manager, I assured the customer I would talk with my employee. When I brought the complaint to my employee, she was unaware of "having an attitude." I mentioned that her body language, as well as her tone, and not her actually words, are some things to watch in the future.
2) They are trying to see how you troubleshoot problems with this question. Here's an example: We were bogged down in a committee trying to decide the next action to boost sales in our department. The group was mixed as to whether market our products exclusively on line where others thought we should have additional ways to market. I suggested we take a look at our top two competitors to see how they were marketing their products... turns out both were using mixed marketing. It was a no-brainer after that.

answer truthfully. I am sure that your future employer will see through bogus, rehearsed answers. the question is directed at YOU, how YOU did something in the past. why not think about yourself for a while, and come up with an honest, thoughtful answer. i am sure that the personnel director has hear the standard answers before, and can see through the bull. they will appreciate a personal answer from you much more.

If you've ever had to deal with foreigners or deaf people you could talk about how it made you really think about the best way of expressing yourself in order that they would understand you clearly?
2
How about saying that in one job before computers were standard you suggested setting up a central office database of work contacts rather than have everyone just writing numbers in their own diaries?

perhaps you have travelled and not spoken the local lingo, describe how you got round this problem.
Ever had an inovative idea. describe it. it might have been some way of removing a stain from clothes or anything.
You have to think outside of the box.
