Gautama Buddha (गौतम बुद्ध) was a spiritual teacher in the ancient Indian subcontinent and the historical founder of Buddhism. He is universally recognised by Buddhists as the Supreme Buddha of our age. The time of his birth and death are unclear, but most modern scholars have him living between approximately 563 BCE and 483 BCE.[1] By tradition, he was born with the name Siddhārtha Gautama (सिद्धार्थ गौतम) and, after a quest for the truth behind life and death, underwent a transformative spiritual change that led him to claim the name of Buddha. He is also commonly known as Śākyamuni (शाक्यमुनि, “sage of the Śākya clan”) and as the Tathāgata ("thus-come-one" or "thus-gone-one").

Gautama is the key figure in Buddhism, and accounts of his life, discourses, and monastic rules were summarized after his death and memorized by the saṅgha. Passed down by oral tradition, the Tripiṭaka, the collection of discourses attributed to Gautama, was committed to writing about 400 years later
Siddhārtha was born in Lumbini, Nepal, under the full moon of the sixth lunar month, in the spring. His father was Śuddhodana (Pāli Suddhodana), of the Kṣatriya varṇa, was the chief (rājā, or king) of the Śākya nation, one of several ancient tribes on the margins of the growing state of Kośala (Pāli Kosala). His mother was Māyādevī, King Sudhodhana's wife.

The day of the Buddha's birth is widely celebrated in Buddhist countries as Vesak.
Vesak in Gregorian Date (2006) is May 12

Many sources claim that he was born at ancient Lumbini in Nepal. The modern name of this village may be Lembei. The area surrounding this village is surrounded by historical monuments and temples dedicated to the Gotama Buddha, and has been acknowledged as his birthplace for at least 2200. Many of these monuments wer built by King Asoka (304-232 BC) who is famous for his role in spreading Buddhism.

Nepal- the Birth Place
Gaya or Bodh Gaya(Bihar-India)-he attained Mokshya

Please address him as" Lord Buddha" in future as a
respect to him. Although I am not a Buddhist, but I
respect him too as you do. I have a" Thanka" ( a
painting made by Tibetian Buddhist Monastries in stone color)
at home, which depicts some teachings done by the
Lord to his monks. This is supposed to bring prosp-
erity at home and I got prosperity after I got it. This is priceless.
