Yes, Mars is actually visible with the naked eye. If you look towards the north-east and east, you will be able to see Mars very clearly on a clear night. It will look reddish and very bright compared to the rest of the stars, and it will look slightly larger, although obviously not as big as the moon.

Yes. When the Earth passes Mars in its orbit, Mars appears as the brightest "star" in the night sky. This happens every 26 months. The last close pass was last October, the next one will be December 2007. Most of the rest of the time you can see Mars as a moderately bright star.

Right now, Mars is too close to the Sun in the sky to be easily seen. You can see Jupiter in the southwest in the evening (it's the brightest "star" there), and if you get up before sunrise you can see Venus and Mercury in the east. Venus is very bright; Mercury is a bit dimmer and below Venus.

Mercury, venus, Mars, Jupitor and Saturn are the planets that can be seen with naked eye.

By practice we can identify them easily.

When sun sets the first heavenly objects that are visible to eye are planets. Only after planets stars are seen.

We really can, however it's seen as a small dot that after looking at it with the naked eye for a few seconds resolves to a decidedly redish hue.

Yes, it is true if the timing and the alignment are correct. It just looks like a little star though. With a reddish tint.
