You shouldn't be melting anything. The designs usually come with an adhesive to apply them. If they didn't, read the instructions. It should tell you what to buy. Some of them are self sticking.
Body glue isn't expensive, and if you can't find it in the same store that you buy the design at, try dance supply stores. They carry it to keep the costumes in place. The only brand I know is BeautiControl. It's a roll on straight from the bottle. Check eBay if all else fails.

Are you meaning Diamond? I am not sure what dimante is. If you go to a party supply or craft store, or even Family Dollar, they have already adhesive plastic gems you can apply to your skin, if that is what you're intending to do. If you have some that you want to apply already, go to a pharmacy and buy eyelash glue. It will be near the false eyelashes in the beauty section, and it's not going to irritate your skin. The gems with glue on the back are already adhesive, you do not need to 'melt' the glue. Applying heat to the gems will only cause them to melt and will give you very, very bad burns.

you can use body glue...Claire's Boutique may have it, if not, check any department store that sells those sticky things that hold up your breast under an evening gown. To get the sticky stuff off, just use alcohol or hand sanitizer.

Oh, yeah...if you can't find the body glue, try the glue that holds on the false eyelashes, it's safe on the skin and washes off easy.

Vaseline will also help "glue" the item if it's near an eye or such. But spirit gum is the traditional glue.

Most pros use spirit gum. You just clean the area well, use an astringent to remove all oils, and apply. No melting. Should stay for the evening unless you are unusually sweaty.
