The second turn of the ignition it starts. Sometimes it does start on the first turn. I had the starter checked & was told it's ok. What is in between the ignition & the starter?

It sounds like its the solenoid.(thats the small cylinder shape thing on top of the starter). It extends the starter gear onto the ring gear on the flywheel. If that doesnt work the starter wont turn. This problem usually starts out intermitent, but will probably worsen. If you ever get stuck and it wont start at all, hit the solenoid with a hammer a few times to get it unstuck. (but if it gets to that point change the starter!)

The most probable cause is a defective starter solenoid switch. That is if it generally starts on the second try without a boost. However make sure all battery and wiring connections are clean and tight before replacing any parts. good luck

No, it still sounds like it is the starter. You could have a pin-point testing done, but is it is very expensive - $130+ usually because they test all of the wires. Would likely be cheaper to just change out the starter as that is likely the problem.

Assuming your battery is in good condition it may be your solenoid. Its a small device in the engine compartment usually mounted on the fire wall just behind the ignition switch. It's purpose is to direct current through the coil to the starter.

Obviously you checked the battery? Thats what comes to mind. The car is 8 years old and the battery was probably guaranteed for five years unless u replaced it. The other possibility is that u have corrosion at the ignition.

If you hear rapid clicking, it's a low voltage problem. Battery isn't putting out enough to engage the bendix drive on starter motor. Good Luck

Take the ingredient back to boost and tell em examine the altenator. The battery in straightforward words works to crank the vehicle, then the altenator keeps the battery juiced up. i am going to wager you under no circumstances necessary a battery- those idiots stuck it to ya chum.

It could be one of the gears on your flywheel that might be broken.
