Requirements can be demanding, both physical and psychological endurance testing will most likely be performed. You'll need to pass all physicals and endurance tests. I suggest being in peak physical and mental condition to endure the pressures and hardships of such an honorable profession.

My cousin is a fire fighter in a big city. he passed the test with flying colors and the first group was called and he wasn't, now there were peole under him who did not do as well on the tests and they got called first/ As he looked into why, he found that the fire fighters are chosen by a board and the only way he ended up getting on was knowing someone who knew someone. My best advice would be to see if anyone you know has a connection in the dept. You know, the "good ol'boy network" type of deal.

Best of luck to your boyfriend-fire fighters are some tough guys!

Be physically fit as the medical tests and exercises are pretty damn tough!! And research everything about the fire service in general. Good Luck!

Make sure you spell everything correctly.

Neat writing.

If he gets past that stage then he will need to learn what Stations are in his county and what type of stations they are i.e. if they are part time/full time also who the commanders are in his county etc.

Get Fit.

It is extremely hard to get in but good luck to him.
