Potentially. Golfer Lee Trevino was hit by lightening and couldn't compete for nearly a year.

A bolt of lightning usually spans several miles from one end to the other. The charge is about a bazillion volts. The temperature is hotter than the surface of the sun. The resulting clap of thunder is the result of air molecules being displaced at a speed faster than the speed of sound; it is a sonic boom. The transfer of electrons does not terminate with your puny little umbrella, nor with your puny little body, but with the electrons along/in the ground for a radius of hundreds of yards. Lightning will often make 200 foot tall trees that are 10 feet in diameter at their base explode into kindling.

I think that might hurt.

I´m sure it would...the lighting would hit the umbrella and since you are holding the umbrella the electrical current would probably flow from the handle to your hand, thus electricuting you.

Well lets see mega voltage , needs to find the ground, your between it and the ground, YEP. Never having been hit by lightning personally I can only speculate if it would hurt, but if its anything like being bit by a 220 volt circuit which I have done.(kids don't try this at home) it huuuuuuuuuuurrts.

Depend on the material of the umbrella you are holding.

probably just a shock and it's very unlikely that the lightning will strike your umbrella

No, the umbrella would not be hurt because it's grounded to you.
