I recently aquired a 1957 Silver Series Dollar Bill. It is in good, but not mint, condition. Human hands HAVE touched it. I'm interested as an amature collector, not as an investor. Can you tell me how to find out the value of my bill, or perhaps a website that can calculate the worth of this and other monies I possess?

Hi. I am a coin dealer in the Midwest. What you have is a Series 1957 $1 Silver Certificate. This was the last issue of the small size Silver Certificates, and a lot of them were produced, several million in fact. If it is just in normal used condition, it probably won't have much value over the face value of $1 just yet, unless it has a star in the serial number ($2-$5), or has some kind of dramatic printing error, in which case its value would depend on exactly what kind of error. Otherwise, it's still basically worth not much more than a dollar right now.

Hope this helped.
