As far as I can see, flies are just a pest. They carry diseases and live on other animals waste, etc. and do disgusting stuff. Surely the world would be a better place if they didn't exist?

Quite the opposite actually. If flies suddenly didn't exist then the entire food web system would colapse. Flies are the main food source of many larger animals. Like spiders or frogs or toads. Without flies those species would eventually die out. Then the things that feed on the fly eaters would have no food and would also die. Like birds and lizards and snakes. Then you have the animals that eat them... Eventually it would reach all of the lovely animals that we humans eat, causing us to also die.

Unfortunately for us, all of the small annoying bugs that we want to just die, we simply couldn't live without.

Flies are necessary - the maggots break down waste and both the maggots and the adult flies are food sources for a lot of different creatures.

In general any animal has some function in ecosystems even though we can't always see it.

I did have one college biology instructor who claimed ticks served no purpose in an ecosystem though. Nothing uses it as a sole source of food, they don't really prey on anything to keep population down. All they do is suck blood and pass diseases - that don't usually kill outright so don't affect the populations.

Yeah they are a pest but the disgusting things they do clean up the mess we leave behind. They lay eggs in rotting stuff and the eggs hatch into maggots that eat the rotting stuff and tidy up our earth. So if they all died we would be knee deep in filth and garbage. Thanks flies for the cleanup!

i'm so sorry to pay attention approximately Tweety. Pets are such candy companions that we actually leave out them whilst they are long previous. He feels like rather a character! No ask your self you permit out him plenty. He rather had character. of course, once you have been youthful, you will have been focusing greater on your toddlers and not the deaths of the pets. each and every each and every now and then, we don't take a little time to grieve, and then years later, whilst there's a dying, we experience the loss greater deeply. i'm happy that Tweety did no longer have an prolonged ailment, that's a blessing. i'm optimistic you gave him a reliable life suitable up till his time had come. You sound such as you gave him plenty love and that's partly why it hurts plenty. bypass forward and cry and be unhappy. it extremely is organic. Take care buddy.

yes, some animals are dependent on them. They eat mostly flies.

world would be DIRTIER WITHOUT THEM! flies are not the ones that create dirty things, they eat them=get us rid of them!!

when they feed on disgusting stuff it means that the disgusting stuff is eaten - that is helpful! The fact that maggots (larvae of flies) eat up dead bodies of animals is extremely good - they make the dead body dissappear as fast as would be impossible without maggots! yes, they do their gross but necessary business very fast. So the world would be a dirtier place without them, definitely -

Of course it matters.Everything on this planet play its role.
Even the smallest animal or the less important is necessary.

Just imagine a world without flies. We'd be knee-deep in dead animals and manure in no time.

There would be nothing to wake me up in the morning by sitting on my nose, cheeks, chin, and eyelids in turn. Also, who would sit on my food?
