The guy has some pretty big shoes to fill, so we need to cut him some slack! Everyone expects him to be just like his daddy, but he's not, in fact he races entirely the opposite as the late great Sr.! Jr. races a nice fair race, he isn't overly aggressive and is considerate when he makes a move!
I personally don't like or dislike the guy, so I think yes...he is kind of over-rated; like 30% of his fans like him because they think he's hot (I don't see that) and about 50% of his fans like him because of his daddy (which he doesn't compare to) and the last 20% are true fans and like him because he is a nice clean driver (I can respect them for that, because that he is)!

I personally think that he is over-rated, but he is one hell of a driver. I just don't think he would get as much attention as he does if he wasn't an Earnhardt. Course then I have to look at, there is Kerry Earnhardt, not much attention there now is there. but Dale Jr. is a great driver, even though I'm not a fan.

He is among the Top 10 drivers, but isn't by far the bestas his popularity would suggest. His father was the most popular racer in history, and his early death leaves only Jr to cheer for.
Although not the racer his dad was, he is blue collar, straight to the point, and takes responsibility for his actions, which is like his dad.

I'm also a fan,and he is a good driver.However he doen't have his dads reputation and I belive he's trying too hard not too get the reputation of his dad. But you in the same breath can't take away the mans tallent as a driver either! Other over rated driver are in my opinion are "Jeff Gordon" Tony Steward,And kacy kahn! But,tallent is what tallent does!

No, I don't. Come on, give the guy a break he's always under a huge amount of pressure to do good because of who he is. He's a good driver & I'm actually glad that he races cleaner than his dad did. I don't like when people race dirty.

I think he is. He wouldn't stand a chance in the Formula 1, look what happened to Pablo Montoya!

hes definatly not overratesd, he is an awesome driver, he just has a bad team the past two years, with waltrip and him spliting and taking some team members with him, he needs to get a good group of guys around him to get back at it............. and last week he got himself back into the chase

he is way over rated .. if it wasn't for his last name and all his money and of course dale sr. he would be nothing.good looks ---where. good driver--- no way.. nerver will be---- he will always be the boy behind the man....

He's certainly not as cute as everyone thinks, but he's a pretty good driver.
