Why do Land Line Phones have a dial tone while the Mobile phones do not have a dial tone ?

Because on the cell, you dial the number first, then hit SEND which activates the phone system. My cordless land-line allows me to do that too, so I don't have to hear the dial tone. But with a traditional phone, you activate the line first (dial tone) then enter the number.

In the landline network, the central office provides dial tone, the indicator that a circuit is available to accept information to make a call.

Providing dial tone to a mobile subscriber requires that either 1) the handset itself generates the tone or 2) the network provides the tone. The mobile can get that open circuit info merely by checking its control channel to see if a circuit is available.

However, providing the dial tone is a problem. 1) is a problem when different handset manufacturers can't agree on the specs for anything, much less an audio tone. 2) requires that airtime be allocated just so the central office can provide dialtone.

Airtime is resources used, and resources used is money, and if resources used just to determine if you have dialtone is money not being collected, 2) won't happen. So developers decided that the system will work just as well to collect the digits, then forward them upon pressing SEND.

Land line: Only when u pick up the receiver, the circuit connection is closed. And the dial tone is heard for ur reference.
Mobile : Mobile is always in connection with the tower of the network provider, so there's no need of an initial connection to be made, thats y no dial tone is required....
