... it's set in the future in a new world that has emerged after everything is destroyed. they don't have any record of history or culture. the book is written in the way that they would speak, in english but it's kind of fragmented. their is something about a punch and judy show, and there are 2 dogs whose names are folloree and folloroo - i read the book i while ago and can't remember who it was by or what it was called?

ok, i found it, so to answer my own question - the book is called ridley walker and it is by russel hoban... a very interesting read if you can deal with the strange language

Great book! I read it when I was about 15 - it was an English teacher's recommendation. I think I'll give it another read soon...
I read another one of his last year - "Fremder" - which was great.
